Tennis club maintain title tilt
ADAM Walne and Danny Taylor helped Burnley Tennis Club's B team maintain their promotion charge.
They won both their rubbers, 6-3, 6-4 and 6-1, 6-0, in a 3-1 win over Towneley at Queens Park.
Steve Palmer and Chris Rowell also beat Towneley's second pair 6-3, 6-3, but lost to their first pair in three sets, 4-6, 6-2, 3-6.
Meanwhile, the A team produced a nail-biting 3-2 win at Whalley A.
Iain Taylor and David Whittaker won one rubber 6-2, 6-2, before somehow losing the other 7-2, 2-6, 3-6 from a winning position.
Paul Barlow and Simon Finnan also won one rubber and lost one, beating the second pair 6-2, 6-3 but losing 3-6, 4-6 to the first pair, but Burnley had done enough to hold on.
