Setback for United

Burnley United 0, Freckleton 2
AFTER picking up their first point of the season the previous weekend, United suffered a setback on Saturday.
In the 1st half of this affair the neutral spectator would have been hard pushed to say which side was at the top of the table and which side at the bottom, with United pushing a very experienced Freckleton side all the way.
But with both defences in stubborn moods, chances were few and far between and the first half ended goal-less.
As the second period progressed the game began to open up and the first real chance of the game fell to Freckleton on 65 minutes when the striker broke free down the right only for debutant goalkeeper Chris Brennan to save bravely.
It seemed very harsh when Freckleton took the lead on 75 minutes. United lost possession and a cross field ball seemed to be helped on by the hand a Freckleton player right and the striker finished from eight yards.
United were made to rue missed chances, when Freckleton were awarded a penalty deep into stoppage time and despite Brennan almost saving the penalty the ball found its way into the net.
Despite the scoreline the performance was a positive one and United will hope to turn things round tomorrow when they travel to Poulton (kick-off 2 p.m.).
