LOCAL duo Stuart McFadyen and Chris O'Brien are out to make Blackpool rock!
The pair are on the card for the Channel M-filmed VIP Boxing event at the Tower tomorrow.

Super bantamweight McFadyen and welterweight O'Brien are both looking to build on an impressive 2008, with both boasting three wins from three since the turn of the year.

And O'Brien, who is lined up to fight Peter Dunn, a 33-year-old from Pontefract is looking forward to the experience: "Training has been going well, I've done a lot of training with John (Duckworth) also travelled over to Huddersfield to spar with Tyrone Nurse.

"I've stepped my training up from my last fight, but I do that after every fight anyway.

"It will be a good experience fighting at Blackpool Tower, and good to follow on from the atmosphere at The Muni.

"The fans shouted me to that knockout last time, and I'm sure they will be there in force again and be as fantastic.

"I've seen my opponent box before and he is just a big, strong bloke, so I will have to be on my guard but my ability should be fine.

"He can be a bit robust but it is going to be a good fight – the last guy I fought came out all guns blazing, so I'll have to be wary of that again.

"As long as I keep him on the end of the jab I should be fine.

"I am dedicating this fight to my auntie, Joan Maree, who is ill at the moment, because she is a greater fighter than I will ever be."

O'Brien is enjoying a promising start to life in the professional ranks, with an unbeaten start of 3-0-0, while McFadyen has extended his record to 10-1-0.

Tomorrow's contest comes almost a year since his only loss, against Gavin Reid at The Muni.

But McFadyen is aiming to end 2008 on a high, and not repeat the goings on of 12 months ago: "I'm feeling good, this is the last fight of the year and I'm ready for it.

"There's a lot coming over to see the fight.

"From my point of view the fight is not about the result, it's about the performance and if I put that in then the win will come.

"As long as I go in there and box my own fight and do what I have been doing in training I should be fine."

McFadyen is scheduled to come up against 34-year-old Anthony Hannah, and added: "I want to end this year on a high, unlike last year.

"I feel that things happen for a reason in life, including that defeat, and just want to get to the stage where I thought I should have been last year.

"I've had four fights this year but that all counts for nothing here, I'm just looking to do a tidy job and the win should come."

Tomorrow's action gets underway at 7-30 p.m., with the doors opening at 7 p.m., with fans urged to arrive as early as possible.

Tickets are available from all the boxers, the Tower or www.ticketmaster.co.uk
