FOUR people have been arrested this morning in connection with an investigation into the distribution of leaflets in Lancashire which claim Muslims are responsible for the heroin trade.

A 41-year-old man from Burnley, a 43-year-old man from Blackburn, a 53-year-old man from Preston and a 57-year-old man from Nelson have been arrested on suspicion of the publication and distribution of written material intended to stir up racial hatred and the possession of racially inflammatory material.

They will be questioned by detectives at Burnley Police Station during the course of the day.

I saw an article in the newspaper yesterday about poppy seeds being confiscated in afghanistan, the article also said that 93% of the worlds heroin was produced in afghanistan from this poppy growth,as far as i am aware, afghanistan is a muslim country, make your own mind up as your not allowed to express your opinion in the labour government facist controlled state, before wasting time and public money on a politicly correct exercise, get the facts, its a fact that in this country the facist left dont want anyone to know the truth of whats going on,and anyone who trys to,in a country where we are still meant to have free speach,is locked up,want to know why the bnp are doing so well? stop telling lies and stop surpressing the truth before its to late.

what a joke, especially when you have racist extremist muslim preachers outside finsbury park mosque shouting out about the kaffur's who should be killed because they do not believe in allah. Innocent people who actually have bigger things to worry about like recession etc, not bloody religion and whats happening on the other side of the world to people who have the same religion. Its all west this and west that, actually forgetting that most of the middle east's empire has been built on the wests fortune buying oil etc. My god is no-one bought the oil, where would they be. The fact of the matter is this, all the way down the line drugs are passed around from one criminal to the other, a lot of the time, the street dealer who deals in heroin and crack cocaine is either asian (so good chance he could be muslim too) abd anyone else is a junkie feeding their habit, and who do they pay when they need drugs, the street dealer mentioned before. if anyone is blind enough to not notice, more the fool them

The world is not flat, the earth is not the centre of the universe, the people that said these things were arrested and made to change their stories.
That’s what you get in an intolerant society whith no freedom of speech

There is a difference between a claim that muslims are responsible for the heroin trade, which is irresponsible and probably illegal incitement against muslims generally, including innocent muslims, and a claim that most opium is grown in a predominantly muslim country, which is a true statement of fact.

Over 90% of the world's opium is produced in Afghanistan, and Afghanistan is a predominantly muslim country. But this doesn't make Burnley's muslims responsible for the heroin trade. That's ridiculous.

And, when the Taleban imposed a religious ban on opium production in 1991, it was virtually eliminated. It's only since the US/UK-led invasion of Afghanistan that production has resumed.

By the way, extremist muslims calling for the slaughter of kaffurs get arrested too. This is an equal, two way street.

Sorry - obviously I meant 2001, not 1991.

Cllr Reyolds was that not a muslim selling crack cocaine out side Burnley Collage, and gets to carry on with his studys. I also see Muslims dropping drugs off, near where I live, how would you like it outside your house and not be able to have free speech.

No not all Muslims are responsible for the drugs problem around here. I don’t know if Usman Maqsood is a Muslim. But I think the people arrested for claiming muslims are responsible for the heroin trade will be dealt with more harshly than the man actually selling the drugs outside the college.

"Cllr Reyolds was that not a muslim selling crack cocaine out side Burnley Collage, and gets to carry on with his studys"

I don't know, but if he is a muslim, that does not mean that other muslims should apologise for him. That's like saying all Christians should apologise every time another Christian commits an offence.

This is the problem that 'isms' are all about: attitudes towards of an entire community on the basis of the behaviour of individuals within that community. Not all white men are like Gary Glitter. To believe that they are is to be racist. Anyone who claims they're not racist yet holds these views doesn't understand the meaning of the word.

This story is made more ironic by the fact that the extremist Taleban are the only ones who have ever been able to get the trade stopped. Our army in Afghanistan has got nowhere, and our police here have made little progress either, not least due to the billions being wasted on useless ID cards when what we need is more police.

The taleban never stopped the drug trade, they just taxed it,much like they do now,I'm not saying all Muslims are responsible for the drug trade, some are and so people of all race,White,Vietnamese etc, it's the lack of free speech in a country that's supposed to be fighting for that very cause in Afghanistan,Iraq.
The fact that you had 2 or 3 Asians who were picked up in Afghanistan, fighting for al-Qaida,taleban,I would say is a far more serious offence than producing a leaflet which is probably not illegal, those guys were welcomed back with open arms by peter pike, the bnp, wheather you like it or not,and I'm married to an Asian,is a political party, legal, and we must all fight for free speech, the real Nazis are the labour party, they are the ones who are abolishing free speech, all this name calling, saying the only people who vote bnp are White racist thugs has been blown out of the water by the leak on membership names, which has backfired spectacuarly because now people can see it is a cross party membership of normal British people, when labour slagged them off in burnley, tried to ban them from the town hall meetings,it just made them stronger, because most people want free speech, free from the oppresion and tyrany of a facist labour government.
