BURNLEY Football Club officials have made the feelings of the Didier Drogba coin-throwing incident at Stamford Bridge last week clear.
Following a statement from the Football Association on Friday, Clarets' chairman Barry Kilby has issued his own statement.
In it he says: "Burnley Football Club is proud of the 6,100 supporters who made the trip to Stamford Bridge and offered magnificent vocal backing.
"However, the club does not condone any misbehaviour from supporters.
"We take seriously any incident that might tarnish our good name and if the culprit who allegedly threw a coin can be identified, the club will act with the utmost severity.
"We are also happy to co-operate with any inquiry into the incident, either from the FA or Chelsea Football Club.
"In closing, we do not believe this matter should detract from one of the club's most memorable nights in Mr Kilby's statement has been issued following a press release issued by the FA on Friday.
That press released read: "The FA can confirm that it is investigating incidents during Chelsea's match against Burnley on Wednesday night.
"Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has been charged with violent conduct.
"Drogba is alleged to have thrown a missile into the away section of the crowd after scoring during the League Cup match at Stamford Bridge.
"Referee Keith Stroud confirmed to the FA that he had booked Drogba for going towards the opposition supporters to celebrate but that he had not seen the missile incident.
"The FA has written to both Chelsea and Burnley to request information on missiles thrown at Chelsea players from the Burnley section. The FA is also liaising with the Metropolitan Police regarding these incidents."
Drogba had until 6 p.m. on Monday to respond to the violent conduct charge against him.
A Regulatory Commission of the FA will hear the case on Tuesday.
